Yorkville, IL

Kendall County, 45 miles W of the Loop. Yorkville was settled permanently in 1836 but was not incorporated as a village until 1887. Located on the Fox River, the city increased in local importance with the arrival of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad in 1870. Smaller retail stores satisfy the bulk of the community's contemporary economic needs and nearby Aurora provides employment for many of Yorkville's citizens.
