Studs' Place
Studs' Place chronicled daily life among the denizens of a small Chicago diner, starring Studs Terkel in the role of the proprietor, Beverly Younger as the waitress Grace, and Win Stracke and Chet Roble as guests. Like Kukla, Fran and Ollie, Garroway at Large and other shows in the Chicago School of Television, Studs' Place was unscripted, with the actors working only from a short plot summary. In this episode, broadcast in June of 1950, Studs regales his friends with stories from his evening at the opera, while Win (who founded the Old Town School of Folk Music) offers his own rendition of Wagner.
