Web Browser Requirements

To use the Electronic Encyclopedia of Chicago, you will need to have Firefox 1.0, Internet Explorer 5.0, or Netscape 6.0 (or higher) installed on your computer.

How do I update my browser?

While the majority of the Encyclopedia's pages were designed for a resolution of 800 x 600, some pages are best viewed with a resolution of 1024 x 768 or greater. To determine resolution in Windows, right click on the desktop area and select "Properties." Select the "Settings" tab from the top of the window. Screen resolutions are displayed in the lower left-hand corner of the window. Please consult Windows help for more information.

Macromedia Flash™ Plug-In

The Flash plug-in is a free application that allows a web browser to play rich Internet content like motion graphics, video and sound. You will need the Flash 7.0 (or higher) plug-in to fully enjoy the Electronic Encyclopedia of Chicago.
